Pure Eclipse Featured at Award-Winning Medina Country Club

Medina Country Club earns Honorable Mention in Golf Inc.’s 2026 Development of the Year awards

Pure Seed is proud to see Pure Eclipse creeping bentgrass featured as part of the transformation at Medina Country Club in Medina, Ohio, which earned an Honorable Mention in Golf Inc.’s 2026 Development of the Year competition.
The recognition celebrates Medina Country Club’s new short course, designed by David Zinkand of Zinkand Golf Design and constructed by Frontier Golf. The $5.7 million project is part of the club’s broader vision to become a community asset and one of the best family clubs in Ohio.
At the heart of the new short course are Pure Eclipse bentgrass greens and fairways, helping provide the playing surfaces for a design built around flexibility, accessibility and an engaging golf experience.
A Different Approach to the Short Course
Rather than following a traditional layout, Medina Country Club created a 38-acre short course with a reversible routing, allowing a single footprint to provide two different directions of play. The course replaced a longer and largely unused third nine, freeing up space for an expanded golf academy, practice range, short-game area and other club amenities.
Golf Inc. notes that the design was created to appeal to golfers of different skill levels and families while also reducing pressure on the club’s championship 18-hole course. Strategic bunkering and multiple routes to hole locations provide challenges for skilled golfers, while generous width gives less experienced players room to navigate troublesome areas.
Pure Eclipse from Green to Fairway
One of the standout agronomic elements of the project is the extensive use of Pure Eclipse creeping bentgrass across both greens and fairways. Golf Inc. specifically identifies Pure Eclipse among the course’s key features, alongside generous green surrounds and an emphasis on maximizing flexibility.
For Pure Seed, seeing Pure Eclipse incorporated so extensively into a forward-thinking golf development is especially meaningful. Projects like Medina Country Club demonstrate how turfgrass selection can work alongside thoughtful architecture and course management to support the goals of a modern golf facility.
Congratulations to Medina Country Club
Pure Seed congratulates Medina Country Club, developer Bill Cosgrove, architect David Zinkand and Zinkand Golf Design, Frontier Golf, and everyone involved in bringing this project to life.
We’re proud to see Pure Eclipse playing a role in a project recognized for its innovative approach to golf, family accessibility and efficient use of the property.
